The Sixpence Stamp 1859 to 1895
The De La Rue archives provided philatelists with details of numbers printed and despatch dates, but they did
not identify which shade, perforation and watermark variations were issued on which date. A study of dated
postmarks by early collectors established the correct order.
5th, 6th, 7th Printings - Violet, No Watermark 8th Printing - Violet, Watermarked
Despatched 19 February 1874, Despatched 27 November 1878,
12 March 1875 and 27 July 1876 although not recorded until 1885
