                              28 October 1937 - Fairfield, USA to Mabang, Sierra Leone

Letter addressed to simply to ‘Mabang, Sierra Leone’ but unfortunately there are three palces with that name in
the country. The largest has a post office, but the other two do not. There was an American Mission at one of the
smaller places, near Kumrabai Mamila.

Unfortunately the addressee could not
be found, and the letter was returned to
the USA four months after being sent.

It is not known where the purple ‘Return to Sender’ handstamp was applied. No other example has been
recorded on mail to or from Sierra Leone.
