At a quick glance this airmail cover from New York to North Yorkshire is a scarce mixed franking of a

98 cents USA National Park issue plus 1963 300 paisa Afghanistan issue. Closer inspection, however,

reveals, that the King of Afghanistan has been replaced with a likeness of Donald Rumsfeld, U.S.

Secretary for Defence under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2006, a period when the USA

was at war in Afghanistan.
