                             At the PSL: Bacon resigns as Secretary and is presented with a silver tea-tray. C.  Neville Biggs


                              becomes first Librarian and is granted twenty pounds for the purchase and binding of books.

                             The  Stadspost  was  set  up  in  1887 to  undercut what were seen  as  high  Post  Office  rates  for the

                              delivery of local letters within the city of Stockholm.  It was  suppressed  at the  behest of the  Post


                              Office on  lst October 1889.  The  unsealed  letter rate  was  36 and the extra  16 made it up to the

                              sealed  rate  of 46.  We  will  never  know  whether  the  sender  initially  franked  the  letter for  the

                              unsealed rate and changed their mind or was simply using whatever stamps were to hand!  Covers


                              bearing more than one stamp are unusual.
