When I first saw this envelope in New Zealand in 2006, I was astounded. I had never heard of a
stamped to order New Zealand envelope being produced using the King George V ld Australian
Stamp and Note Printer die. There was no mention in the NZ Post Office archives (I had just been
there}, The Samuel catalogue or Vol. 9 of The Postage Stamps of New Zealand. This item deserved to
be in my collection and I made the owner what I considered to be a whopping big offer. Alas, the
owner liked to show it when he went to local clubs. Imagine my joy when it came up for auction in
2015, and I was able to add it to my collection. The original can be seen in my Championship Class
exhibit 'New Zealand Postal Stationery 1876-1940' in frame 3701, Page 5.
