The 'Friendship Exchange' covers were individually created by employees of the Qatar Petroleum
Company Ltd., based at the Umm Said Oil terminal in Qatar. This cover sent from Umm Said to
California is franked with QEll Wilding ~d, 2d and 2~d definitives with St. Edwards's Crown
watermark, overprinted QATAR and surcharged to a total of 30 NP for the half ounce surface mail
rate to North America. All are cancelled with 'UMM SAID QATAR' double ring c.d.s. of 11May1960.
