At the RPSL: In June the Society lent its meeting room to Thomas De La Rue & Co. for an
exhibition to celebrate the centenary of that company printing stamps.
RPSL President was K. M. Beaumont. Patron H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. Membership was
between 873 (RPSL Membership lists 2015) and 1013 (RPSL Centenary publication 1969).

Cyprus introduced new currency of 1000 mils to £1 sterling on lst August 1955 and issued a new set
of definitive postage stamps at the same time. There were fifteen values in the series, being 2m, 3m,
Sm, lOm, lSm, 20m, 25m, 30m, 35m, 40m, SOm, lOOm, 250m, SOOm and £1. The stamp design
committee was under the Chairmanship of Mr. A. H. S. Megaw CBE and he designed the SOOm and £1
stamps. He was also an Uncle to Clare, who is the wife of current RPSL Council Member David Alford.
