This letter was posted unpaid for delivery within Freetown. In 1940 the minimum price for an internal half-
ounce letter was 1½d. The envelope was correct marked ‘T’ and ‘3d’ indicating double the underpaid amount
as postage due to be collected from the recipient.
This is a rare example of internal mail that has been censored.
