Handstruck 10¢ and Taxe ‘T’

30 January 1934 - Freetown to Hoylake, England

The envelope has been prepaid at 1½d instead of the 2d surface rate at this time, thus attracting the taxe mark
‘T’ and the ‘10¢’ postage due. The charge has been correctly calculated as double the ½d deficiency, 1d, which
converts to 10 gold centimes. The handstruck 1d is an English mark applied on arrival.
Similar marks of values 20¢, 30¢, 40¢ and 60¢ have been recorded between 1934 and 1940.
