At the date of sending, the surface rate to the UK was 2d for the first half-ounce, plus 1½d per additional half-ounce. The registration fee was 3d,
and the AR fee a further 3d although this was not included in the adhesives on the envelope. The sender paid 6d - which cannot be explained. Note
the pin hole marks at the top left of the envelope where the return card was fixed.
