This letter is the earliest recorded usage of a resealing tape in Sierra Leone during World War I. The tape
was handstamped with the serifed Type 1C ‘Opened by Censor’ mark. This cover also has a small set of initials
applied in blue crayon, potentially by the censor.
Kunso is a very small and remote mission station in northern Sierra Leone, staffed mostly by Americans.
