Entire posted 4th November 1904 in New Amsterdam (formerly Berbice), British Guiana, addressed

to Cape Town, South Africa, carried by ship and stamped with 4 x le with a circular cancels of NEW

AMSTERDAM. The postage of 4 cents corresponds to a weight of Yi to 1 once (15-30 grams), but it is

doubtful if this small envelope was heavier than 15 grams as the cover without contents only weighs

4 grams. The letter was redirected to the town of Somerset in Cape Colony, which had a population

of 5216 people in 1904. The fee for redirection was marked with a reduced tax of 2 cents for Yi once,

South Africa being a member of British Commonwealth.
