Main feature
The internal letter rate was reduced on the 1st November 1879 from 4d
to 3d for each half ounce. This rate lasted until the 1st July 1882
when the rate became 2d for each % ounce.
The overprinting of THREEPENCE on a specially printed 4d dull rose stamp was done in
February 1880 . 720,000 stamps were overprinted. The 4d stamp is not known without the
overprint.
The stamp was cancelled with BONC of Clan-William whose dated oval also appears on the
cover
